RECREATION
ACTIVITIES:
A recreation club for the Hostellers is functioning in the Hostel. Facilities for indoor
games like chess, carrom and outdoor games like Shuttle-cock, tennicoit, ball-badmintorn,
volley ball and cricket are available. The hostellers conduct sports and games
competitions and arrange for prize distribution function occasionally.
CULTURAL:
On some designated days Yoga and cultural programmes are organised.
GARDENING:
A beautiful garden has come up with around 600 rose plants with flowers of different
colours and varieties. A neat caricature of India Map was drawn on the elevated soil by
the hostellers at the right side of the Hostel block. The site, with fully developed
lighting arrangements, nice approach roads etc, has become a very attractive spot
for the entire Training Centre campus and also attracts somany cine producers to use the
locations for shooting of their movies.
During 1998-99, more than 1800 plants were added to the existing plantation. A beautiful
pond in the rose garden is coming up to enhance the beauty of entire garden. An idol of
VANADEVATHA, the goddess of greenery has been installed on the piller erected in the
centre of pond. A man made fountain also was installed in the pond to make the beauty of
the garden still elegant.
SHRAMADAAN:
Shramadaan programme is being conducted in the hostel premises on some holidays from
7.00 a.m. to 8.00 a.m. Through their active participation in Shramadaan hostellers
contributed a lot to the improvement of greenery in the compound. This programme helps in
promoting dignity of labour, sense of brotherhood and to understand the importance of
greenery. The Shramdaan programmes are conducted in the early hours of some holidays while
Suprabhatam and devotional & patriotic songs of different languages mix with fresh air
and makes the atmosphere very pleasant.
